Billie Who?

Posted January 22nd, 2008 by Joe Kaiser

Rob, produce a single person we said we'd rescue and did not.

Dear Rob,

I have just one question for you . . .

Who the heck is Billie O’Brien?

Billie O’Brien

Not nice

Here’s the text from Billie’s email to the gang:

Thought you all might be interested in this good news today, especially on the heel’s of Darryl’s note about Premier. It is the culmination of the AG investigation into some of the foreclosure rescue businesses operating in Washington.— Billie O’Brien
Administrative Manager
Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer

“Good news?”

Here’s a copy of the actual email.

Notice the link she referrenced to the bogus press release your office issued, modified, removed, remodified back, and then reposted?

Yeah, that one.

Foreclosure rescue is not a bad thing, Rob, just ask the 25 families we rescued who are still in their homes today.

But, at least you’ve got Billie convinced (and probably everyone else who hasn’t figured out the game you’ve got going here).

Rob, produce a single person we said we’d rescue and did not. Yeah, just one.

I dare you.

In the arena,

Joe Kaiser

It shouldn’t be hard for Rob to produce a rescue scam victim. After all, he is probably tripping over all those damn files in his office. Isn’t that the definition of getting “swamped with victims of real estate scams.” (?)

We’ll find out soon enough because I’ve asked the AG to prove it:

    I request the following public records . . .

    (1) a list of all active “foreclosure rescue” cases your office is involved in. Please identify those cases where a lawsuit has been filed and those where no lawsuit has been filed.

    (2) a list of all “foreclosure rescue” complaints received by your office in the past 24 months.

    (3) copies of each such complaint.

    (4) records detailing the outcome of each such complaint

I intend to contact people identified by these records so please provide contact information (phone numbers, addresses) whenever available.

Please send digital copies (.pdf) to

Not to be used for commercial purposes. Agree to pay appropriate costs. Please confirm receipt of this email. Thank you.

And, I’ve asked Sweet Melissa: for her comments as well.

So, we’ll get to the bottom of this, one way or the other. And, if it’s truly the epidemic they’re making it out to me, I’ll admit as much. But I don’t believe it.

We know as of last year it didn’t even rank among the Top 20 categories of complaints the AG receives.

To me it sounds like more grandstanding and very little else.

In the meantime, let’s put some numbers to this and see what’s really happening here.
