This June 11th posting is still up at the AG's website under "press releases". I wonder how long they keep it up?

Pay particular attention to the final sentance:

June 11th,
Attorney General McKenna’s new laws go into effect Thursday
OLYMPIA – New laws requested by Attorney General Rob McKenna dealing with mortgage foreclosure schemes, identity theft, spyware and third-party marketing of cell phone numbers will go into effect on Thursday.

“These new laws address critical threats to consumers from the purveyors of modern frauds—from mortgage rescue schemes to identity theft and online spying” McKenna said. “Also beginning this week, consumers’ cell phone numbers will be protected from solicitors, since they can no longer be published without express consent. I want to thank legislators from both parties who helped pass these crucial protections.”

For some reason, the link to the article now asks you to log in. To get around that, here is link to a Google search. As of this writing, the second link in the search results takes you directly to the article.

Why doesn't someone contact Parker Howell from the Spokane Review and ask him to investigate this further? He covers real estate news for the paper.

His June 12, 2008 article is titled "Law aids 'distressed' home sellers". I already pointed him to one of Joe's previous posts but never heard back.

It might be helpful for someone else to contact him regarding today's notes. The video is compelling. I thought the press thrived on catching politicians red-handed. Is that still the case?

Here's a link to Parker's article:

Here's a link to Parker's contact information (for those interested):

Cheers!
